The Video Assistant Referee, or Hawk-Eye, was introduced to the FIFA World Cup in 2018 and has since made its way onto other championships, such as the Premier League and UEFA. VAR uses a series of high-speed cameras located in strategic places around the field in order to broadcast the game to a team of referees located indoors. This team has direct contact with the on-field referee, communicating with him and helping him make the correct judgment.
