TL;DR —
CSS Grid is a Grid Framework that allows us to easily recreate framework-based grids using just a few lines of CSS. Flexbox is an immensely powerful layout tool, providing unparalleled flexibility and control to our grid system and core components. Bootstrap 4 is now using Flexbox behind the scenes by default. Less than 5% of the sites are using it according to Chrome Platform Status. If using React/Vue or other framework, perhaps it might be to dump the twelve column grid instead of raw CSS.
