In reality, all protection measures in digital services can be bypassed. This false sense of security makes it easier for fraudsters to get what they want. HTTPS protects only the connection, it doesn’t protect the server or prevent it from getting hacked. One of the most successful attacks was performed in 2017 on Classic Ether Wallet, which was actually protected by SSL. The only way to protect yourself is to stay cautious and never send any sensitive information through a website. The same story is with messengers, with message encryption between parties, but it doesn't matter when it comes to end-to-end.
