TL;DR —
In my free time, I am attempting to build my own smart home devices with speech recognition. The first I wanted to try was the SpeechRecognition library. The installation took time and effort, but with research it was manageable. The issue was in the systems I was deciding to use, and I was unable to change the default device. I will talk about what I found my issues on different machines, and when I decided to switch. For live speech, we will need to set up a microphone.
