Tell us about you.

Edgee is the Edge Component Platform for next-gen applications. Our vision is to enable web developers to run workloads where they perform best, at the edge, so they can build the next generation of high-performance, sustainable applications.

Tell us how your startup is changing the world.

We’re building an open source ecosystem for developers to create, manage, and share components, powered by edge computing. This enables them to move beyond traditional client-side and server-side limitations and run business logic at the edge of the network. For example, eliminating bulky JavaScript SDKs that slow down websites.

The result? Faster, more secure, and more sustainable websites.

We started by tackling a core analytics problem of the web: up to 50% of all web interactions are lost due to ad blockers, cookie banners, and network issues. By shifting client-side logic into edge-native WebAssembly components, our users capture 100% of interactions, restoring trust in their data and enabling smarter decisions.

Our long-term goal is to build an open ecosystem of first- and third-party components for data collection, performance optimization, security, compliance, A/B testing, personalization, AI inference, and more.

What sets you apart from the competition?

Most companies treat the edge as just another deployment target. We don’t. Edgee is built for the edge from day one. We don’t just optimize server-side apps to run closer to users. We’ve created a fundamentally new way to think about application architecture using edge-native components. These are small and lightning fast WebAssembly modules that execute exactly where they’re needed in just a few milliseconds.

This architecture gives developers fine-grained control over performance and cost, without the complexity of managing distributed infrastructure. It also means we’re able to do things competitors can’t, like collecting 100% of analytics data without relying on heavy JavaScript libraries, or dynamically rewriting content at the edge in milliseconds.

We also believe deeply in open source. The Edgee proxy and components are built in the open on GitHub. That means no vendor lock-in, full transparency, and a growing ecosystem of community-contributed components.

In short, Edgee isn’t just faster or more efficient—it’s a new paradigm for building the modern web.

What does it mean for you to be in the Momentum 10?

Being recognized in the Momentum 10 is an incredible validation of the work we’re doing at Edgee. We’re challenging deeply embedded assumptions about how the web is built and deployed, and getting named among the top 10 startups by a platform like HackerNoon shows that our edge-native approach is resonating with the people who matter most: the builders.

This recognition comes at a pivotal time for us. In 2024, we raised $2.9 million in pre-seed funding and grew our team from 3 to 10 people in just a few months. That growth isn’t just about headcount. It’s about investing in a strong, remote-first culture that’s fast, focused, and deeply collaborative.

It also fuels our commitment to keep the platform open, composable, and developer-first. We’re proud to be part of this cohort, and even more excited about what comes next.

What do you love about your team, and why are you the ones to set out for this mission?

What makes our team special is a shared belief that the web can—and should—be radically better. That belief comes from experience.

Our founders, Sacha and Gilles, came at the same problem from different angles. In early 2023, Sacha was CTO of Le Monde, France’s largest news outlet, where he discovered major gaps in core analytics—metrics like MAU, DAU, and retention were consistently underreported, despite using expensive enterprise tools. At the same time, Gilles, CEO of Letsmeet, found that an A/B test showing a 17% lift dropped to 2% after rollout. It turned out that 30% of users—including most of their power users—weren’t tracked at all. After comparing notes and speaking with peers across industries, they realized this was a widespread issue that needed an ad-hoc solution, and that’s how Edgee was born in early 2024.

Since then, we’ve built a team of people who care deeply about the details. We’re working with bleeding-edge technologies like WebAssembly and Rust—not just because they’re new, but because they offer real performance and security benefits. These tools demand specialized expertise, so R&D is baked into everything we do.

We also made an early and deliberate investment in developer experience. Focusing on developer advocacy at the seed stage isn’t common, but it reflects our belief that developers are not just our users—they’re our community. Building trust with them starts from day one.

We’re a small, fast-moving, remote-first team with a high bar for technical excellence. And we’re not just chasing hype. We’re building something foundational that solves a real business problem. And we’re in it for the long run.

Looking back, what milestone was the biggest turning point for your startup?

The launch of the Edgee Component Registry was a major turning point for us. It transformed Edgee into a true ecosystem. With this launch, developers can build, test, and share WebAssembly components that run at the edge—without needing to rely on traditional client-side SDKs or heavy server-side logic. It unlocked full customizability and extensibility of the platform, letting organizations run their own components at the edge, securely and efficiently.

The registry also marked our shift toward community-driven development. Developers and partners can publish public or private components and contribute directly to the ecosystem. That includes everything from analytics and consent management to warehousing, with new use cases coming soon such as A/B testing, AI inference, and custom logic.

It was the moment Edgee became not just a platform, but the foundation for a new way to build for the web.

What’s one valuable lesson you learned this year that you’d pass on to other startups?

One of the most important lessons we’ve learned is to obsess over customer feedback—and let it truly guide your product decisions. It’s easy to get caught up in building what you think is cool or important, but the fastest path to success is listening carefully, iterating quickly, and aligning your roadmap with real user needs.

At the same time, being lean and efficient has been crucial. With a small, focused team, we’ve learned how to achieve more with less by prioritizing ruthlessly and shipping fast. Frugality isn’t just about saving money, it’s about creating clarity, speed, and a culture that values impact over busywork.

Balancing these two—deep customer focus and operational discipline—has been key to building momentum and staying on the right path.

How do you envision your industry evolving in the coming years, and how will your startup stay ahead?

The web analytics landscape is evolving rapidly under the pressure of major players, shifting user expectations, and increasingly strict privacy regulations like GDPR and the German Datenschutzkonferenz guidelines. Companies must balance the need for rich, actionable data with a growing demand for user privacy and consent compliance.

At Edgee, we’re committed to staying ahead by innovating not just in performance, but in privacy-first data collection. Our cookieless mode is a prime example: when no consent is given, we generate a temporary hash based on non-unique traits—IP, user-agent, language—that lives only in our edge cache, resets daily, and cannot be used for persistent tracking or profiling. This approach respects user anonymity while still providing valuable aggregate insights.

As regulations tighten and browsers phase out traditional tracking methods, solutions like ours will be essential for organizations that want to remain data-driven without compromising compliance or trust. We see Edgee leading the way by combining cutting-edge technology with privacy by design, empowering developers and businesses to build the next generation of web analytics.

How do you or your company intend to bring forward the Momentum 10 inspirations in 2025?

Being named in the Momentum 10 is a powerful platform—and we intend to use it to raise awareness about a critical but largely invisible issue in web analytics. Most website owners believe they’re capturing 100% of their user data, but the reality is very different. Due to a complex mix of ad blockers, privacy regulations, unstable networks, and evolving browser behaviors, organizations are losing a significant portion of their analytics data—often without realizing it.

This loss hasn’t happened overnight. It’s been a slow, steady erosion over the last decade, which makes the problem easy to overlook. It’s not anyone’s fault—just a natural consequence of how the modern web has evolved.

Our mission in 2025 is to help the industry collectively acknowledge this issue and understand that it can be fixed. Importantly, this doesn’t mean sacrificing user privacy. Edgee’s technology proves that you can regain trust and accuracy in your data while respecting privacy regulations and user consent.

By sharing this message and demonstrating real solutions, we hope to inspire web developers, product leaders, and executives to rethink their approach to data collection—and to join us in building a more transparent, reliable, and privacy-respecting web.
