Proof of Work (PoW) vs. Proof of Stake (PoS): Sharding Edition

Written by @vinod-manoharan | Published on 2020/6/8

TL;DR
The scalability problem is currently the main limitation for the mass adoption of blockchain technology. Sharding is considered to be the most promising, but there is no common vision on how to implement sharding to find the best acceptable compromise among the numerous parameters of the network. Projects such as Algorand, Cardano, Near, and Zilliqa have developed their own blockchain designs based on sharding. They all rely on a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus algorithm and pseudo-random selection of validators.
