TL;DR —
There was never a better time for horror games than the PS2 era. This was an era in which graphical fidelity would skyrocket, creating far more frightening and believable worlds. The Suffering excellently reflects its developer’s namesake, surreal. Haunting Ground is considered by many as a successor to the Clock Tower games, even though it is a refinement of the formula with even better visuals and enhanced gameplay. Silent Hill 35.2 is considered a successor of the original, even if it is not as well as a spiritual successor.
