This story is part of HackerNoon's Meet the Writer interview series . The series is designed for tech professionals who contribute to Hacker Noon's most insightful stories to share more about their writing habits, ideas, and professional experience (and maybe a hobby or two).

If you too would like to start contributing to HackerNoon, you can do so here.

So let's get started! Tell us a little about yourself. For example, your name, profession, and personal interests.

I’m Baptiste Monnet, an enthusiast writer specializing in leadership. Born in Thailand and raised in Switzerland, I come from a multicultural background spanning three countries, which allows me to bring a global and introspective perspective to my work.

I’ve worked as an educator and social worker, gaining valuable experience in the social field. These roles deepened my understanding of human behavior and informed my reflections on societal issues, which continue to enrich both my coaching practice and my writing.

Interesting! What was your last Hackernoon Top story about?

That was the story . Electric vehicles are currently one of the biggest consumers of lithium-ion batteries—and these can be quite toxic. There's a lot of industrial pressure to recycle materials from old, discarded batteries to try to reduce the pressure on mining.

Do you usually write about similar topics? If not, what do you usually write about?

It depends. I like to share ideas or tips, but my my written work explores interconnected themes such as leadership, business strategy, branding, entrepreneurship, technology, and opinion editorials.

While these topics may seem varied, they’re all linked by a common focus on social impact and how personal and professional development intersect in meaningful ways.

Great! What does your usual writing routine look like (if you have one?)

Imagination and experience fuel the idea. I make sure my story can have a significant impact. I want readers to be able to create an image in their minds. When I write, I like to listen to the piano and find myself in a quiet place.

Being a tech writer can be challenging. It's often not our primary role, but rather a complement to another. What's your biggest writing challenge?

I write a lot, but I also have to read. I don't think it's a challenge. I have to adapt to each situation. So I also have to keep myself informed.

What is the next thing you hope to accomplish in your career?

I hope to give more. When I give, I have control. What matters when you create something is the community you support.

Wow, that's admirable. Now for something simpler: what's your favorite guilty pleasure?

I love eating while I cook 😅

Do you have a non-technology hobby? If so, what is it?

I love writting, reading, watches, and watchmaking.

What can the Hacker Noon community expect from you?

Ideas, tips, and opinions.

Thank you for taking the time to participate in our "Meet the Author" series. It was a pleasure. Any closing words?

Don't be afraid to be yourself in this world - no matter what you say, no matter what you do, you will always be judged by others. We live in the same world where we have our own world.
